The small person in the rocking chair reminds me of an older person. Maybe a father or someone wiser or very cared for. Because the old man is in the palm of what looks like a younger hand makes me believe the fate of the old man is literally in the hands of the young man. The feather, I feel, represents the delicate situation the two men are in.
