This image possesses a theme that was not present in the two photographs that it
originated from. The Statue of Liberty has her backed turned on the viewer. It is
as if she does not want to deal with the theme communicated by the picture. The
trash can in the foreground has the word "liberty" stenciled onto it as if to say
that the idea of liberty doesn't hold much meaning in this day and age. The viewer
is unaware that this is a manipulated image since the splicing of the two images
is almost unnoticeable.
